I Like It – Grand Puba

“I hit a flow, all dipped in Lo, sit back and sip Mo, as I count my Dough”  Grand Puba Maxwell put out his second solo album “2000” back in 1995 “I Like It” was the classic single off the album.  Puba had the smoothest style I can’t front, not to mention being a founding member of Brand Nubian, back in the day you had no choice but to check for Grand Puba.  Let’s not forget he practically introduced the hip-hop world to the queen Mary J. Blige on records like “What’s the 411” & “Check it Out”

9th Prince – Banned from the Radio

9th Prince from the Wu-Tang Clan affiliated group Killarmy came out with “Banned from the Radio” a few years back.  The first thing that grabbed me about this song is the John Lennon sample from his classic song “jealous guy” which is a personal favorite by the way.  Having said that Rza’s younger brother actually does it justice, complimented nicely by the video filmed in Staten Island and in front of the famous “Can it be all so simple” mural near Park Hill.
