My Nigga Alf (Lost Footage)

Alf had a hit tv show in the 80’s, Alf was on t-shirts and lunch boxes across america, Alf liked to say nigga a lot and wear gold chains.

Miami Vice

I recently went through my dvd collection and came across my favorite cop show from the 80’s…Miami Vice. This show was the shit dead up. I mean what more could you ask for in a cop show? Guns, Drugs, fly girls, flashy suits, exotic cars, Mysteries and Murders… every episode was like a mini michael bay/Jerry Bruckheimer action flick worthy of being a 4 or 5 star action movie, not to mention the fact that Miami vice also had the best sounds from the 80’s. Miami Vice paved the way for great action dramas like New York Undercover which by the way was my favorite police drama of the 90’s. Now im not going to pretend like I can do this epic series any justice with this single post, because that’s just not possible. Instead I chose to use this post as an eye into the past that will allow my fellow colleagues to specify further into the reasons why Miami Vice was one of the greatest shows ever.Check a piece from one of the best 2-part episodes Calderone’s return, where Calderone puts out a hit on Crockett and shakes up the precinct….stay tunned there is more to come… HHTT approved..

D-Nice – They Call Me D-Nice (BDP Live On)

Taking out you suckas and you don’t know how I did it!

One of my biggest influences in the game hands down is the TR-808 aka D-Nice. D had the swag fo real b, he had that cool flow. Working on new music makes me realize how much I want to honor cats like D-Nice. A lot of my style is from this man right here, what they taught I learned b.D-Nice Rocks The House is the prequel to They Call Me D-Nice, teaming  a young Nice up with Scott La Rock which would eventually be the ticket to Nice landing his solo deal. Scott La Rock  helped D develop his skill and would serve as a mentor/brother/friend up until his tragic passing in ’87.Peep a young D-Nice, KRS-ONE and DJ Scott La Rock (BDP) Circa ’86BDP Live on RIP Scott La Rock

The Smack Down Bboy Competition in Allston, Ma

First off I gotta big up T.R.U. member Reez for bringing me to the event and making sure I got the best footage I can.  I’ve never been to an event like this before and have never seen so much love between people in hip hop that were competing against each other.  Being at this event I realized the difference between rap and Bboying and how commercialized the emceeing part of hip hop is and how it has been exploited by the companies that control its distribution.  Witnessing this event (both the cyphers and battles) showed me first hand that even though dancing has had its share in the limelight , for the most part it is just as pure as when it began.  Big Shot Out to the Floor Lords for sponsoring the event as well as the other brothers involved in putting the jam together, I look forward to being at many more.

Drug Dealer, Drug Dealer – Brother Menelik (AV)

“Got a gun named Mandela and the clip full Nelson/ Scope from the soviets, we call it Boris Yeltsin”

Drug Dealer, Drug Dealer is a throwback to another era the wally era if you will, one that is fond to everyone here at HHTT (H2T2) and is often romanticized about when we  build.  We are all true 80’s babies who came of age in the late 80’s/early 90’s and we were all sponges keeping our mouths shut while our ears and eyes stayed wide open, taking it all in.  Av (Brother Menelik) was no exception, coming up in certain sections of Worcester this song was and still is his reality, bowdown to the Main South King, Brother Menelik.

Kids – MGMT (Music Video)

“If you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you” Mark Twain – Nietzsche

MGMT released Oracular Spectacular back in October of 2007, the album featured the hits Time to Pretend, Electric Feel and Kids.  It was the first major label studio album from the Brooklyn duo, who upon release of the album immediately drew comparisons to earlier 80’s New Wave synth-groups such as a personal favorite of mine New Order.  The video for Kids, directed by Ray Tintori was recently released to the masses earlier this month and is as awesome as it is disturbing.  What I like is the whole concept of the video itself, yo Lex! don’t this kinda remind you of  They Live?
