We Run Things (It’s Like That) – Da Bush Babees

” We run things, things no run We “

Da Bush Babees came correct with that  Brooklyn backpack 95 flavor on their debut album Ambushed.  The Group consisted of Mister Man, Y-Zee & Kaos while their album featured production from Hip-Hop heavyweights such as Jermaine Dupri, Salaam Remi & A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammed.  Da Bush Babees were the precursors to the Rawkus movement of the late 90’s and were responsible for introducing the world to newcomers like Mos Def.  Check out one of the groups biggest hits off of Ambushed the Ali Shaheed Muhammed produced single We Run Things (It’s Like That). We Run Things (It\’s Like That) – Da Bush Babees

Drug Dealer, Drug Dealer – Brother Menelik (AV)

“Got a gun named Mandela and the clip full Nelson/ Scope from the soviets, we call it Boris Yeltsin”

Drug Dealer, Drug Dealer is a throwback to another era the wally era if you will, one that is fond to everyone here at HHTT (H2T2) and is often romanticized about when we  build.  We are all true 80’s babies who came of age in the late 80’s/early 90’s and we were all sponges keeping our mouths shut while our ears and eyes stayed wide open, taking it all in.  Av (Brother Menelik) was no exception, coming up in certain sections of Worcester this song was and still is his reality, bowdown to the Main South King, Brother Menelik.

Livin’ Proof – Group Home

Bring the fake to Reality, and make them Pay

Group Home (Lil Dap + Melachi the Nutcracker) released their debut album Livin’ Proof in 1995, the album is almost entirely produced by Dj Premier.  Most every rap critic would tell you that this is one of Primo’s greatest works but it lacks substance due to Dap and Melachi’s rhymes, well fuck that.  True the Mc’s kept the lyrics simple at times, but in this case it’s just what the doctor ordered, these two simply told it as it was at the time, I believe the popular phrase among hip-hoppers was “Keeping it Real”  Anyway if you ever do see this record, cop it, because it truly is a classic so don’t sleep! Below are the three video’s Group Home released from this album.
