HHTT Invades Barnes & Noble Pt. I (Black History Month)

black-history-at-bn

This past weekend Rev and I got up at Barnes & Noble to meet and discuss business. Barnes & Noble provides an excellent atmosphere to work and gives the serenity of a czar’s palace. Ok enough of the flattery, tell me why the fuck in the prime of black history month one of Americas #1 booksellers only has two tables dedicated to African American history?? I went into the muthafucka happy to read books and shit then realized it’s the same bullshit.
All that aside we had a excellent time peep the clip.

Denise Huxtable

denise

As a black kid growing up in the 80’s Denise was a vision of love, light skin redbone with that sassy attitude, she was dope. The Cosby family was divided by the two eldest light skin siblings and the younger darker trio of Theo, Vanessa and Rudy. Sandra was fair skinned but she was wack, she looked like a pelican and didn’t have half the style Denise had. Denise was troublesome and caused problems on the show, which made Cliff send her packing to “A Different World” to get her shit right. Beyond all that she was a classic beauty, as for Lisa Bonet , Lilly Moonfry or whatever she wanna call herself I don’t know about that.

I just know Denise

Shark Attack Time Baby – Ian Edwards

I first saw Ian Edwards back in the day when he was on Def Comedy Jam, he has also been a writer on Saturday Night Live, MTV’s The Lyricist Lounge and cartoon networks Boondocks.  Below is a clip of Ian doing his thing last year on Diddy’s Bad Boys Of Comedy which had me rolling.

Billie Holiday – Strange Fruit

“Strange Fruit” referenced in the song are the bodies of African Americans hanged during lynching. This song sung by the late Billie Holiday was as tragic as it was inspirational. Every time I hear this song my throat starts to get that lump in it, memories of times a lot of us don’t want to remember. I love this song; it is a testament that no matter how ill the situation injustice will not go unnoticed. We are a strong people we have overcome the highest of the hurdles. Those brave individuals who were hung in lynches during that time will not be forgotten. The beautiful fruit that grows in the south a lot of times is not all beautiful as it may seem. “Strange Fruit” would end up being Holidays biggest record and as many recalled she would break down every time she sang it.
