Shyne officially signs with Def Jam

While this isn’t new to most of you, Shyne was released from prison back in August of last year and soon after deported back to his native country of Belize.  Last week reports started coming in that the rapper had signed with Def Jam and rumors including a 5-10 Million dollar advance have been swirling all over the interweb since.  However this Monday Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid flew down to Belize to finalize the deal and partnership with Shyne’s Gangland Records which will now operate under Def Jam.Be on the lookout for more to come from Shyne this year, in the meantime enjoy his classic Bad Boyz featuring dancehall king Barington Levy.Bad Boyz – Shyne Feat. Khaki Suit – Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley feat. Bounty Killer & Barrington Levy

Damian Marley and Nas headlined Rock The Bells  this summer, they also  premiered a few tracks from their upcoming Distant Relatives collaborative effort dropping later this summer.  While I’m sure everyone is excited for the new album, I’m going to take ya’ll back to 2005 when Jr. Gong released his third album Welcome to Jamrock.  Damian recruited a couple dancehall legends (Barrington Levy & Bounty Killer) to help him rock the song Khaki Suit.

Living Dangerously – Bounty Killer feat. Barrington Levy

In 1996 Bounty Killer released “My Xperience” one of his best selling albums to this day.  The album featured The Fugees, Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, Junior Reid, Beanie Man and Jeru The Damaja.  An additional shining point on the album featured Dancehall legend Barrington Levy on their collaboration “Living Dangerously”
