So Well – MC Eiht

Brandon Jennings

Saturday night (11/14/09) Milwaukee Bucks rookie point guard and 10th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft Brandon Jennings made history scoring 55 points.  After graduating from Oak Hill Academy Jennings went to play pro-basketball in Italy for Lottomatica Roma instead of playing for the Arizona Wildcats causing quite the stir throughout most of the basketball community.  So far this season Jennings is averaging over 25 points & 5 assists per game, and if that wasn’t enough, watch this steal and finish from the rookie earlier this season against the Pistons.

Don’t front, you knew he was going to be a problem when you saw him bringing back the flat top at the McDonalds All-American Game in 08.

Raekwon breaks down the Purple Tape with Crooked I

After a recent Rock The Bells press conference Crooked I from Slaughterhouse got Raekwon the Chef to sit down for a brief interview.  Rae explains the purpose behind his debut cassette tapes color and explains how Compton’s own Mc Eiht came to have a small cameo in the 36 Chambers classic Can it Be All So Simple video.

To me Can it Be All So Simple was the best record on the classic 36 Chambers.  Over the Gladys Knight sample you can hear the foreshadowing of Ghostface & Raekwon’s Wu-Gambino persona’s (Tony Starks & Lex Diamonds) they would take on over the next few years showcased best on albums like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx & Ironman.  Enjoy the video directed by Hype Williams and lookout for that Mc Eiht cameo.

Boyz N The Hood (Movie)/ Ice Cube – A Bird In The Hand

boyznthahoodred-cay-boyznthehood

Boyz N The Hood is a hood classic which offers many memorable moments. Today my focus though is on one particular part that has stood out to me the most. The part which I speak of is when Cuba is crossing the street after the cookout and those niggas in the red Hyundai pull up. This moment is so pivotal within the movie because here you have the aggressors, and here you have the moment that changes the movie’s direction entirely. The part is so gangsta for real, the way Cuba just stands there shaking looking down the barrel of that shotgun, classic. The music in the background is Ice Cube’s “A Bird in the hand” off his Death Certificate album which sets the mood dramatically. What I present for you today is Ice Cube’s “A bird in the hand” (Classic track) and a clip from that pivotal moment along with a few others in Boyz N The Hood.

Ice Cube’s “A Bird In The Hand” beat was jus recently used in 50 Cents new song the “Mechanic” but it not worth even to mention.
