Karl Malone on Magic’s Return to the NBA (’91/92)

Stemming from the great article Magic Retires (1991) written by Lex,  I decided to further touch on the topic.  After the Dream Team run Magic decided he was ready and more than willing to return to the NBA to continue in the sport which he loves so dear. Mind you, not everyone in and around the league were as willing to embrace a man w/ the HIV virus but some were more vocal.

Just Because he came back doesn’t mean anything to me, I’m not no fan or cheerleader. It may be good for basketball but you have to look far beyond that. You have a lot of young men who have a long life ahead of them. The Dream Team was a concept everybody loved. But now we’re back to reality. –Karl Malone

When Sir Charles Barkley was asked how he felt about Magic playing with the virus he said, I was with him all summer and never once thought about it, NEVER!

Now in 1991/92 I can understand Malone’s comments to an extent but I mean c’mon b you played on the Dream Team with this man now you running your mouth about one of the best to ever do it???? I can’t ride with Karl on this one b, I can’t! Karl should have done more research into the virus before opening his mouth and saying shit he obviously know nothing about. So is he saying the Dream Team run was a fluke??? That teams didn’t play the USA hard cause we had a player with the virus?? C’mon b!Karl aint the mailman he pony express…..slow minded muthafucka……..still one of the best PF’s of all time though.

Where Love Happens – 2010 NBA Commercial

New commercial from the NBA which has been airing throughout the Finals featuring Deron Williams, Mickael Pietrus and a great song from Curtis Mayfield, P.S. I Love You from his 1976 album Give, Get, Take & Have.

P.S. I Love You – Curtis Mayfield

Tony Allen Stuffs Pau Gasol

Often given the difficult task of defending Kobe Bryant in these 2010 NBA finals Tony Allen has had great success, “according to ESPN Stats & Info, Kobe is now just 5-for-19 (26.6 percent) in the Finals with Tony Allen as the Celtics’ primary defender on him through the first four games.”  When Kobe isn’t in the game and T.A. has the luxury of defending players like Sasha Vujacic he makes help-out plays on the defensive end like this.

Get that soft euro-trash game out of here Pau.

Boston’s Baby Gangstas – Glen Davis & Nate Robinson

“We’re like Shrek & Donkey, Best Friends” – Nate Robinson

The Boston Celtics tied up the NBA Finals at 2-2 last night against the L.A. Lakers, the real story however lies in the bench play, particularly that of Nate Robinson & Glen Davis who were the spark in Game 4 off the bench for the C’s.  Here is the clip from last night’s now infamous SlobberGate.

Equally as entertaining is Nate Robinson & Glen Davis press conference after the Game 4 victoy for the Celtics.

This isn’t Glen Davis’s first success in a Game 4 post season situation either, who could forget Glen’s game winning shot last year in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic.

NBA 2K10

The piano laced intro lets you know the power of the game you are about to embark on. NBA 2K10 is one of the best basketball games I have ever played and will go down as one of the best b-ball games of all time along with Coach K and NBA Live ’96. One of the biggest reasons for this acclaim is the stellar presentation, the presentation alone is enough to purchase. If you are like me and grew up in the glorious era of the NBA on NBC then you will fall in love with NBA2K10. The commentary is amazing, Kevin and Clark will speak on past games, accolades, rivalries etc all in fluid motion not sounding automated. The biggest addition to the overall game is the new My Player mode; this mode has been done before in games, but never with such depth. I’m a true b-ball video gamer, been balling hard since Double Dribble/Jordan vs. Bird bee, so you know I had to get hands on with the game myself. My NBA career started in the summer league with the Wizards, getting used to the controls hindered my progress a little bit but that’s why I practice. When you play this mode you only control yourself, the emphasis is on being a good team player. Your overall grade is placed in the top left corner of the screen; you get graded for pretty much everything (box out, make an assist, alley, tight d, etc). I had to throw out all I previously knew about b-ball games and learn again, I had to learn that I am part of a team and not the team. After 6 games in the summer league I was cut and sent to the D-League, I couldn’t believe it! My SG wasn’t good enough so I packed up for LA and learned the importance of team ball. 8 games with LA’s D-League team and Utah called me up, the 2K Insider (a lil dude who gives you advice, NBA stories and critiques your game) told me I was signed to a 10 day contract so I knew I had to play at my highest level. My first NBA game I was in awe, all the people, the sound, and the TV cameras! Understand, when you play in the D-League you don’t get all that good stuff, you in small arenas with no commentary, just the squeaks and moans of 2nd hand NBA players. 10 days went by and Utah decided to offer me a 1yr deal and I took it. Never before I have I created a player in a video game and felt such a connection, hats off 2K fo real. HHTT APPROVED.  COP THAT NBA2K10 NOW!Don\’t Sweat the Technique – Eric B. & Rakim
