Lola Falana

My dad would always treasure his JET magazine with Lola Falana, he had a thing for the redbone and I could dig that major! Lola was born Loletha Elaine Falana to a Cuban father and an African-American mother, which explains her beautiful complexion. Discovered by Sammy Davis Jr.  Lola was the triple threat in the 70’s she could sing, dance and act and was referred to by many as the queen of Las Vegas. Her eyes are what gets me the most………She’s Dope b.

Roy Jones Jr. Vs Bernard Hopkins

Roy Jones Jr.  (54-6, 40 KOs) and Bernard Hopkins (50-5-1, 32 KOs) will square off in the ring April 3 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas nearly 20 years after Roy Jones Jr. won a close decision over Bernard Hopkins.  Hopkins coming off a couple victories, an impressive win over the talented Kelly Pavlik and a decision against Enrique Ornelas.  Jones Jr. won by TKO over Jeff Lacy but in his last bout Roy was knocked out in the first round by Danny Green.

“They deserve this fight and why not supply the fans with what they demand? Now I can finally terminate the ‘Executioner’ once and for all. My new nickname for this fight will be ‘The Terminator.’ ” – Roy Jones Jr.

“A rematch with Roy has been in the back of my mind for a long time and it’s finally going to happen. I have accomplished a lot in my career since that night in Washington, in 1993, and I am going to end this thing between me and Roy once and for all.” – Hopkins

I Wan’na Be Like You – Louis Prima

King Louie (Louis Prima) and Baloo (Phil Harris) from Disney’s the Jungle Book performing “I Wan’na Be Like You” aka King of the Swingers and The Monkey Song.  This song is still hot 40 years later.

Swingers

Swingers was released independently around 1996 and is without a doubt one of my favorite films.  I can definately relate to the film on many levels given my age & lifestyle amongst other things.  The flick was definately Jon Favreau & Vince Vaughn’s coming out party into the movie business.  Enjoy the funny clip below
