HHTT @ Lucky Dog May 8th (Worcester)

dj shamenite people sequelnytmare lean back

Friday May 8th showcased some of Worcester best in Hip hop and HHTT was on the front lines. Its always good to see cats repping the city and even better when done correctly. DJ Shame started the night off right with some bangers, bringing that gritty mid 90’s sound back for the masses. You know HHTT got love for that era so when he dropped ArtifcatsWrong Side Of Da Tracks, Rev and I just looked at each other and nodded in approval. B – boys even got into the mix, tearing up the floor to classic tracks turning the night into a true hip hop affair. Nite People came on stage and wrecked shop, From start to finish they kept the crowd at attention. Ethereal is one of the sickest mc’s to grip the mic, its not just his wordplay its the complexity in which he delivers it that intrigues me. Following right after was Nytmare with machine gun flow intact. Nytmare is one of those  mc’s that have a flow you cannot deny, once the beat drops he attacks it relentlessly like a savage . On stage he did the same, slaughtering every beat placed before him. All around it was a good night, had a few drinks, heard some good music and met some good peoples.  HHTT WAS IN THE BUILDING!

Start On The Street: Worcester

Hip hop is something that resides deep in our soul, the culture is beautiful its self expression in its rawest form. Growing up hip hop was more than music, it was my life. Certain songs bring back certain memories, certain memories bring back songs, its funny. HHTT has a deep love for where we grew up and always love to put on for our city. Chilling on Park Ave we noticed the art on the Leitrim Pub wall and decided to post up, seeing the art made me think of how much I still love hip hop and love being from the City of Wor. HHTT Returns to Barnes & Noble (Worcester)

The Polo boys go back to Barnes & Noble to do it right. Barnes & Noble provides an excellent atmosphere to work and also play a little. This is one of HHTT’s first meeting spots, and you never forget where you started. The vibe at Barnes is very laid back and relaxing, I personally dig it because the staff lets us run free in that bitch! HHTT has a deep love for literature and it’s only proper we showcase one of Worcester’s top book stores. Sometimes you have to drop the remote and pick up a book, real talk.

Brother Menelik & Lex Go Home (Welcome to Worcester)

91-look-up-menelikbuck-lex

I never thought I would be here reminiscing with ya’ll about my youth and where I came from, but damn I never thought I would see 21. Lex and I grew up on 91 Murray Ave in Worcester, Ma, the main south area. We didn’t live in the worst conditions but damn shit wasn’t sweet, drug dealers, prostitutes, feens etc all could be found on our block. We both lived in the Buckingham building on Murray Ave, I on the 5th Floor and Lex on the 1st.  This is my hood and I love where I grew up, when I speak of the “pissy” hallways and broke elevators its all love to my hood. Worcester is a funny place, you got ya gritty spots then beautiful, crack dealers on one side doctors on the other. This is where I’m from and I wouldn’t want it any different. Peace to GBV, Grafton, Plum, Lakeside, Mainsouth, Lincoln Vill, Moutain Vill, Eastern Ave, Upland Gardens, Washington Heights, North High, Burncoat, South, Doherty, Forest Grove, Downtown, Chandler, Newbury, Wellington, Hooper, Belmont, Vernon, Green Hill and any spots I left out.
