If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise is the follow up to Spike Lee’s 2006 documentary When The Levee’s Broke which premiers on HBO this week.  Spike Lee gives us a rarely seen look into the “lingering effects of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the impact of recent events like the Superbowl & the BP oil spill.”

Treme

HBO’s Treme season premier is tonight (4-11-2010), created by David Simon & Eric Overmyer (The Wire)  Treme takes place 3 months after Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans and focuses on the residents coming back to the neighborhood and the rebuilding effort.  The show will feature some familiar faces to Simon’s previous works such as Khandi Alexander (The Corner) Wendell Pierce & Clarke Peters (The Wire) as well as new actors such as Steve Zahn & John Goodman plus a slew of local New Orleanian actors.  Enjoy the trailers and don’t forget to tune in.
