Gang Starr Foundation Joints and other Rarities

The Gang Starr Foundation consisted of Gang Starr members DJ Premier & Guru plus alot of the other artists they frequently collaborated with throughout the 90’s and beyond.  Such acts included Big Shug, Afu-Ra, Group Home, Krumb Snatcha, H Stax, Jeru Da Damaja, NYG’z, Freddie Foxxx & M.O.P.

First up is Serious Rap Shit by Group Home featuring Guru & Big Shug, this joint was actually produced by Guru himself.

Serious Rap Shit – Group Home Feat. Guru & Big Shug

The Piece Maker was actually taken from Tony Touch’s classic album of the same title.  This joint I remember was at the begining of the tape and really set the tone for the rest of Tony Toca’s album, if your not familiar with the Piece Maker go get that.

The Piece Maker – Gang Starr & Tony Touch

Salute Part 2 is a dope song off of First Family 4 Life which featured Guru & Premier.

Incredible was yet another dope collaboration between KS and Gang Starr off of Krumb’s album Respect All Fear None.

Incredible – Krumb Snatcha Feat. Gang Starr

This joint was labeled as a Gang Starr Freestyle on Funk Flex’s 60 Minutes of Funk Vol. 3 this is just some classic Gang Starr enjoy.

Funkmaster Flex Freestyle – Gang Starr

Counter Punch taken from original Gang Starr member and Boston general Big Shug’s album Who’s Hard?  is one of the last songs which coupled Guru over some DJ Premier production.

Counter Punch – Big Shug Feat. Gang Starr

Danger – Blahzay Blahzay

PF Cuttin cutting up ODB, Q-tip & Jeru da Damaja for the chorus, Out Loud with that rugged ass voice, plus sampling one of my personal all-time favorite forgotten soul tracks (Gwen McCrae’s Rockin Chair) it’s a no brainer, Blahzay Blahzay’s Danger is vintage New York rap at it’s finest.  Coming fully equipped with Philly Blunts, razors under the tongue, timberland boots and even a few cameos, The video for Danger serves as a time-capsule to 1995 Brooklyn.
