Super Bowl Movie Trailer Madness

Aight, first up we got Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans as America’s favorite super-soldier, although only a 30 second trailer has been released we still get a glimpse of Red Skull one of Marvel’s best villains to date.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon as far as the Transformers series goes, 1st one was ehh, second one garbage but after last nights short trailer it turns I have a little bit of hope reserved for Michael Bay’s third installment.

While we won’t catch Transformers & Captain America untill July, World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles will impact theatres this March.  Shiiiiiiit (Clay Davis voice) I wish an alien would.

Ship carrying Americans hijacked off Somalia

pirates1-7362862the-maersk-alabama-cargo-001

Maersk Line Ltd issued a statement saying it believes the U.S.-flagged Maersk Alabama was hijacked. The vessel was en route to Mombasa, Kenya, when it was attacked about 310 miles off Somalia’s coast. U.S. government sources said the ship was attacked about 7:30 a.m., and the closest U.S. Navy warship was about 300 nautical miles away. There has been no action taken against the pirates, even with a task force present in the region, the area is too large to monitor all the time. Pirates are gangsta.

Dwayne Wade 2009 MVP

This season Dwayne Wade is averaging a league leading 29.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game.  The Miami Heat are currently 5 games over 500 at 37-32 and should be the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference come playoff time.  Last year with D-Wade unhealthy the Heat only won 15 games.  This summer at the Olympic Games in China, Wade led the team in scoring to help team USA win back the Gold Medal.  Now I know the media stays on Kobe and Lebron’s dick (rightfully so), but I ask you, have Kobe or Lebron done this?!!!??!

Manifest Destiny (Blood by Expansion)

american_progress

America has always had the belief to expand to the west by any means necessary. America therefore embraced the manifest destiny idea; some so wild even to include the total absorption of all North America. Advocates believe this is good and used “Manifest Destiny” to justify the move and slaughter of indigenous people. The term was first thrown around in the 1840’s to promote the annexation of the Western U.S. What gets me is how Americans moved to a land not of there own, set a flag in the ground and decided it was destiny to push all those off the land by force (if needed) to expand. The slaughter of the Indigenous people is one of the biggest tragedies in American history that is never fully explained in history books or after school specials. I know there are some who will go with the religious side of the doctrine, saying that it is our duty to enlighten the world with Christ and all that, but to me its simply blood by expansion. The slaughter and movement of Native Americans onto reservations reached its height in the late 19th century. The government intended to destroy tribal governments and break up Indian reservations under the progressive Manifest Destiny Doctrine. The pure arrogance of this doctrine was embodied in Albert T. Beveridge when he spoke before the senate.

God has not been preparing the English-speaking and Tectonic peoples for a thousand years for nothing but vain and idle self-admiration. No! He has made us the master organizers of the world to establish system where chaos reigns… He has made us adepts in government that we may administer government among savages and senile peoples. Theodore Roosevelt, John Cabot Lodge, and John Hay, each in turn, endorsed with a strong sense of certainty the view that the Anglo-Saxon [Americans] was destined to rule the world. Such views expressed in the 19th century and in the early 20th century continues to ring true in the minds of many non-Indian property owners. The superiority of the “white race” is the foundation on which the Anti-Indian Movement organizers and right-wing helpers rest their efforts to dismember Indian tribes.”

And for those holier than thou, justify this.

Electoral College (Does a vote count?)

A lot of young people read a Diddy t-shirt and think that if they don’t vote a bullet will release from a chamber into there skull, this is false. Voting is an integral part of our political system but your vote is not the vote that cast our president, the Electoral College determines this. Each state has a body of electors that cast a vote for president, now some of these electors have made promises to vote for certain candidates but in the end it is there final say on who the president and vice will be. Don’t get me wrong our vote does count if it comes to ballots like in Bush vs. Gore, then we play a major factor but this is a rare instance. I have to agree with why not to go with a “popular vote” but I think a lot of our entertainers are confused by the whole political machine period. Your vote is important but in the end it really wont count, the electors for each state will make there decision based on there own feelings period. Politrix is a bitch huh?
